Hitler is making his play to return from hell in Zombie Army 4: Dead War, which is where players left him at the end of Zombie Army Trilogy. At E3 , this latest Sniper Elite standalone spin-off offered a comfortingly fun demo of gory zombie shooting, another potentially moreish four-player co-op shooter to join the growing ranks that have emerged since Left 4 Dead 2. You’ll be taking survivors through formerly picturesque Southern Europe, now occupied by Hitler’s undead. My PC demo was actually in singleplayer, and I played as Sniper Elite protagonist Karl, who’s among several other returning characters in this entry. That means I carry a sniper rifle and shotgun, but on top of that, I have an electric fist melee attack that’s good for knocking zombies back, too. There’s an ’80s genre movie influence hanging over the game, which is most noticeable in the moody John Carpenter-esque music. Sniper Elite’s kill cam returns in Dead Army, along with an explosive cam for when you kill a lot of zombies at once, say with the careful placement of an explosive. You’ll also encounter different variants of zombie, naturally, with exploding undead turning up towards the end of this demo. There’s a lot of satisfaction in picking them off from a distance through a sniper scope. Nothing about what I play feels particularly new, but it’s a very pretty game that captures a lot of what I currently enjoy about playing co-op shooters on PC.
Zombie Army Trilogy Co-Op Review
In its self-aware campiness and macabre action, there is a contagious confidence in Zombie Army 4 that will leave anyone who plays it a fan of this exciting co-op shooter. Zoom out enough from the modern games industry and the slate of recent games can seem sort of binary; some games are about moments, like defying death and boss battles and saving the world, and others are about feelings, like melancholy and grief and hope.
Zombie Army 4: Dead War paradoxically fits into both and neither at once. As a third-person Nazi zombie shooter, no-one would suggest Zombie Army 4 is a novel concept — even its years-old debut already followed a long line of games depicting a similar world, but its merits exist beyond its story setup. To care about the story in Zombie Army 4 is misguided, and generally feels like more effort than the dev team expects of you.
Co-op in Zombie Army 4 supports up to four players and you’re able to customize your heroes with a wide range of options.

Zombie Army 4: Dead War Review: “Take a seat on its crazy train”
Zombie Army Trilogy is the latest port for the Nintendo Switch from Rebellion, and while there are a few frights here and there in terms of its iffy online and poor motion controls, this outbreak is actually a fun, albeit repetitive excursion to a timebent WW2 era. The Allies are close to taking Berlin, but in a desperate turn of events, Adolf Hitler in his bunker activates Plan-Z and resurrects the fallen soldiers on the battlefield as zombies.
This general storyline is a means to an end and is not the main hook of the game.
Left 4 Dead is a multiplayer survival horror game developed by Valve South and Both versions of the game have a new matchmaking system to simplify the On August 20, , an update for the game Zombie Army Trilogy was.
But the first patch, Patch 1, has been released and it fixes a number of great things to make it a bit better of an experience. The patch is in response not only to their internal testing, but also to the responses that they’ve received from the community. They seem to truly appreciate constructive feedback that they can then work into the game. But there are some good changes and fixes therein. The biggest is the inclusion of the ability to toggle aim.
I think that’s something that we all have our differing preferences to, and each game seems to have their own default setting, but you can now set your own, should you wish. Rebellion Developments has had some outstanding releases, whether they’re incredibly popular or not. The games they have pushed out have been quite polished and damn near finished with very few bugs and issues crawling inside them.
I’m very impressed with their QA team and their ability to release non-broken games. It seems that that’s a rare thing these days. By Jeff Williams. Share Tweet Submit. Subscribe to our newsletter.

Zombie Army 4 is a game about shooting nazi zombies with friends, and so two and launched for all platforms back in as Zombie Army Trilogy. of its matchmaking system doesn’t seem to prioritize where you left off.
Zombies, or more accurately, Nazi Zombies are nothing new to video games or pop culture for that matter. And when Rebellion was looking to produce a standalone expansion for their Sniper Elite series, the vile undead of the Third Reich was more than ready for the approaching slaughter. While Zombie Army: Trilogy, released back in was a very enjoyable co-op zombie shooter, it lacked a great deal of polish across the board, making the title extremely fun, but rarely impressive.
Half a decade later, Zombie Army 4: Dead War makes good on that polish and executes on exactly what this series needed to be. Dead War has you traveling from Venice, to Milan, the forest of Sardinia, to even a Croatian Zoo, and more, all in the efforts to stop evil where it stirs. Each location is packed with new zombies, waves of undead, and a few interesting set pieces that set them each apart.
That said, the story is still one that matches the feel of what Zombie Army is going for, in many ways the same that another title by Rebellion, The Strange Brigade, had going for it as well. The presentation of Zombie Army 4 is through each chapter acting like a pulpy horror film, complete with fake movie posters used to select your missions. There are, at the moment, two DLC characters in Hector, a zombie pilot, and an undercover version of Karl decked out in a Nazi Commander uniform.
Where Dead War separates itself from its predecessor is that it contains a pretty substantial progression system that looks to reward those who want to spend time in this world, ranking up and equipping perks, improving their weapons and so much more, such as takedown attacks that reward those close-range shenanigans with some much needed health.
Zombie Army Trilogy is a terrifyingly intense third person shooter set in a gruesome alternate vision of World War II. Berlin Facing defeat at the hands of the Allies, Hitler has unleashed one last unholy gamble – a legion of undead super soldiers that threatens to overwhelm the whole of Europe. Since coming out a couple of months ago, Zombie Army Trilogy has been a game to jump in and out of at times when you just need to unleash a little rage on some stinking rotten corpses. If you are looking for political correctness however, this is probably not the game for you! It’s In desperation, Hitler initiates his plan to use Nazi occult research and create an army of zombies in retaliation. Will you have enough ammunition to take on a seemingly unstoppable force of the undead? As long as you bring enough friends along for the fight, then it’s a breeze! The Sniper Elite series is all about being a pro marksman; the aim, basically, is to get as many headshots with the weapons at hand as possible.
Since this game is all about facing mostly slow-moving zombies, skeletons, and other undead Nazi soldiers, it feels absolutely fantastic when you pull off headshots that make their heads explode. While your main objectives vary, your side goal during each mission is to rack up the largest combo possible to achieve a high score. Zombie Army Trilogy has two different modes: Campaign and Horde.
Campaign mode presents a storyline where you and up to three other players progress through five separate missions containing three episodes each. Horde mode is, essentially, a survival mode that challenges players to survive waves of zombies as they grow increasingly more difficult. Since Campaign episodes can take quite a bit of time to get through, it’s nice that players can join in or leave on the fly without having to return back to the matchmaking lobby.
